Oakover winery and restaurant, swan valley

Gorgeous day today so hubby and i wanted to make the most of it. First stop was oakover winery for lunch. Hubby ordered the steak, potato rosti and brocollini, I ordered the fish with herb bread crumb and potato mash. I wolfed down my lunch very quickly coz I was so hungry. We were going to have a baci chocolate cake for dessert but they ran out :(. Over all great meal, would come back again, also good value if you use your entertainment card at 25% discount.

michael buble is coming to perth!!!

michael buble is coming to perth!!! yay!!!
my hubby and i love love love to listening to michael buble and we got our knickers in a BIG knot when we heard he was coming to do a concert here.
He came to do a concert here about 2 years ago, the concert was soooo good we vowed to attend every concert he did in perth.

The concert is not until March 2011 and its at the Sandalford Winery Estate, Swan Valley, which is going to be just beautiful. We got normal tickets, no meals or pre dinner drinks - and it didn't come cheap. This is probably our 6th yr wedding anniversary present to ourselves.
Can't wait!!

ps: i really should be doing a HEAP load of marking... but i'm procrastinating as usual.
hubby and i are both under the weather, he's got the chills and a fluey achy body and my throat feels like sandpaper... ouch...

pork shanks

We finally went to Elmars in the Valley for a meal today. We've heard lots of good things about this place and their famous pork shanks. So with visitors from over seas and a group of friends, we made our tracks to the Swan Valley to show how we live it up in Perth.

Because it was a big group of people, we did a big order and shared everything. Starting with our entree.

Elmars tasting plate - cheese, pate, olives, and a range of german sausages - all Elmars of course YUMMY!

garlic cheese bread - soooo good!

chicken ceasar salad - our token green thing amongst all the meat!

and this was our mains! the famous pork shank with fried potatoes, saurkraut and mustard.
The pork is pickled then oven roasted till the meat is juicy and tender on the inside with beautiful crunchy crackling skin outside. Was soooo good... we are taking all our over seas and inter state guests here next time. Just make sure you leave room for desserts ...because we didn't and i regret it.

a very fappy ms clio :o)

note: 1 serve of pork shank can feed 2 - 3 normal people
you've been warned!
